Building
This short month has moved quickly. With the tasting room painted, Katrina turned her attention to staining and finishing the trim that will go around the doors and windows. Derek installed baseboard heat, then focused on two other key spaces: the mechanical room and the employee bathroom. Both need to be functional for our opening.
Next up is bar design – we’ve been busy pinning down the details and taking final measurements.
Business / Community
We were hard at work this month (and on the 28th specifically) helping the Dillon Amateur Hockey Association fundraise for maintenance and operation of the Dillon Ice Rink. While this year’s weather was too warm for the full spectacle of the Dillon Rink Day, Brett and his staff at Beaverhead Brewing hosted a great Pint Night - there was chili, a raffle for door prizes, and a silent auction.
Distillery
As we prepare to serve delicious non-alcoholic drinks alongside our spirted ones, we are expanding our recipe ingredients. You’ve heard of a Shirley Temple, but did you know that grenadine is made out of pomegranate syrup? Katrina has some taste tests out in the community right now comparing two different pomegranate syrups - the winner will be added to mocktails, ginger beer, and cocktails.
Katrina traveled to a conference in New Orleans, arriving two days after Mardi Gras finished. She had a chance to visit Latitude 29, a low-key, welcoming, and excellent tiki bar started by Jeff “Beachbum” Berry (as the website claims: The New York Times cites him as “the Indiana Jones of Tiki drinks”). She also stopped by Bar Tonique for her first ever Last Word and the classic New Orleans cocktail, a Vieux Carré.
